took 2 rides sunday. rode with my neighbor, with her big ol hoss of a dresser. although its advantages became instantly clear on the freeway, with me n my light bike getting blown all over the road, i wouldnt want to get trapped under that heavy ass thing. she'd never been up any of the routes on this side of the city, so took her up and down some twisty knobs and hollows and ended up at marrowbone lake, which she'd also never seen. north up eatons crk, back southeast on old hickory to bull run, then over to little marrowbone rd, heading north. i'd intended on finding a new road up in there and had scoped a really sweet twisty road up and over a ridge called whitlow mountain road on the satellites. but got to the head of it and found a sketchy lookin slat bridge and gravel road. some country boys were laxin' on the creek bank and they said that it was gravel/dirt all the way over the ridge til it ran back down to bull run. seemed way too sketchy to take her big bike over so we ditch that plan and headed up to the lake, but i'm going back. i was all over it today on satellite photos and it looks cool, if i got the stones to tackle it. its even got a little swimming hole lake/pond short distance into the woods, or at least thats what it looks like on the photos. we'll see...
this horse was reckless eyeballin us over by my regular swimming hole on marrowbone creek most of the time we were there. haha
ima rent one of the little boats at marrowbone lake next time and see if i cant get up one of the lake arms far enough that the ranger cant see, for future swimming excursions this summer. unfortunately, theres no swimming allowed officially. sweet lil lake otherwise...
then after lunch back at home i rode to stinkwater, fully intending to spend the afternoon on the porch watching the ladies and their recently freed summer dresses sashay through the park, but after tossing one back i realized i just couldnt sit in one place, so rode out granny white pike to old hickory and dicked around out in the hills of the south harpeth area. sneed rd, south harpeth rd, poplar wood, mccrory lane and over to highway 70 and the west side just in time for sundown. beautiful day, 80 degrees...grinned all the way up 70 back into the city...for one last stop, end of the road
